In conjunction with America’s 250th anniversary commemorations this year, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is celebrating the spirit of American small businesses through the Freedom 250 Patriot Pitch Competition — an opportunity for local entrepreneurs to compete for a $1 million prize pool.

“The American story of innovation is rich, complex and wonderfully diverse. It’s a mosaic built from countless brilliant pockets of ingenuity — from the tech hubs on the coasts to the resilient manufacturing floors across the Great Plains,” said Brad Zaun, SBA regional administrator for Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska. “But beyond the technology and the capital, what truly defines an American business? It’s resilience, community roots and the sheer will to build something lasting for the next generation.”

Zaun said that participation in this competition equals recognition. “We are looking for businesses that aren’t just profitable today but built to last decades. Demonstrating a three-year history, solid revenue streams and successful utilization of SBA products proves you have already established your roots deeply in these communities — making you essential contributors to this national celebration,” he said.
