Randy Blackston, vice president of operations at Charleston, S.C.-based Glen Raven Inc. was presented the Southern Textile Association’s (STA) David Clark Award during an STA Board of Governors meeting.
The award is named after the founder of STA. It honors past presidents who continue to contribute leadership and service to the association and the textile industry for 10 or more years following their service as president.
Evans Tindal, STA president and plant manager at Glen Raven, presented the award to Blackston.
Blackston served as STA president in 2011–2012. He graduated in 1992 from Clemson University in Clemson, S.C. He also has two associate degrees from Tri-County Technical College in Pendleton, S.C., in engineering technology and industrial management.
Blackston has 38 years of industrial experience from five years of co-oping through college and 33 years working at Glen Raven. He also spent 10 years teaching quality engineering, design and motion, and time study at Tri-County Technical College.
