Denise Offray, owner and CEO of OTEX Specialty Narrow Fabrics®, passed away May 2, 2026.
Denise dedicated her life to her family business and the textile industry. Starting as a teenager spending her summers working as a switchboard operator in the customer service department of C.M. Offray & Son, Denise would go on to play pivotal roles in all facets of the business throughout her career. Beginning her career in the floral division, Denise spearheaded the introduction of woven-edge ribbon into the floral industry. She later oversaw the company’s medical device business and would eventually become owner and chief executive officer of Offray Specialty Narrow Fabrics, the company’s technical product division. Denise’s passion and dedication to her family business was visible to all those around her, but it was her unwavering commitment to all her employees that truly set her apart.
Her career in textiles, specifically being the first female owner of the family business, helped inspire the creation of the annual Advanced Textiles Association Women in Textiles Summit. She and her son Timothy Offray spoke on a panel at its inaugural conference in 2019 in Savannah, Ga.
Ownership of the business passes to Timothy, who is the fifth generation of the family to lead the company as CEO.
Private services have already been held by the family.
