The 13th National Membrane Structure Technology Exchange Conference was held in Shenzhen, China, March 27–29, 2026. More than 300 representatives from membrane structure enterprises, universities, research institutes and design and construction units across the country attended the meeting. The conference theme was “Technological Innovation Leads the Way, Green and Low-Carbon Empowers and Industrial Synergy Develops.”
Opening ceremony
The opening ceremony was presided over by Li Xiongyan, deputy secretary-general of China Association for Spatial Structure and professor at Beijing University of Technology. Xue Suduo, chairman of China Association for Spatial Structure and professor at Beijing University of Technology; Li Qingwei, secretary-general of China Steel Construction Society; and Wang Weiqiang, representative of the supporting units, delivered opening speeches.
Former chairman of China Association for Spatial Structure, Zhang Yigang, National Engineering Survey and design masters Yu Yinquan, Wang Lijun, Ding Jiemin, Hou Zhaoxin, Sun Yimin, vice chairmen Zhang Qilin, Li Zhongli, invited experts He Mingxuan, Zheng Fang, Wang Zai, Wan Haiying, Qiu Linbo and Wu Jinzhi. Experts in membrane structures such as Xiang Yang, Wu Yue, Cui Jiachun, and Wang Ping jointly attended the opening ceremony.
In his speech, Xue Suduo stated that membrane structures integrate multiple disciplines and green construction, combining advantages such as a large span and lightweight. It is an important technical carrier for the transformation of the construction industry and the implementation of the “dual carbon strategy.”
Secretary-general Li Qingwei of China Steel Construction Society said in his speech that spatial structure is an important indicator of a country’s architectural technology level. He pointed out that the membrane structure industry is ushering in a strategic opportunity period. The dual carbon strategy, urban renewal, cultural and tourism integration and intelligent development bring multiple new development opportunities to the industry. China Steel Structure Society expects industry colleagues to take this exchange conference as an opportunity to pioneer innovation, work pragmatically, jointly promote China’s membrane structure industry to a higher level, and contribute wisdom and strength to the high-quality development of the spatial structure industry.
Chairman Wang Weiqiang, on behalf of all supporting units, extended welcome and respect to the guests from all walks of life attending the conference, and expressed sincere gratitude to China Steel Construction Society and China Association for Spatial Structure, experts and scholars, co-organizers and supporting units, industry colleagues, and supply chain partners. Chairman Wang called on all units to stay true to their original aspirations, delve into technology, and contribute to industry development with high-quality works and services. He firmly believes that with the joint efforts of all parties, China’s membrane structure industry will usher in a more brilliant future and wished the conference a complete success.
Launch ceremony
The conference invited secretary-general Li Qingwei of the Society, chairman Xue Suduo of the association, former chairman Zhang Yigang, masters Yu Yinquan, Wang Lijun, Ding Jiemin, Hou Zhaoxin, and invited experts He Mingxuan to jointly launch the Glodon Membrane Structure Engineering Cost Software and the Membrane Structure Processing and Manufacturing Standard.
Li Zhongli, the chief compiling expert of the Membrane Structure Processing and Manufacturing Standard, gave a detailed overview of the standard.
