Country-specific tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump in an April 2 executive order are now in effect. The president declared a national emergency in the executive order as a result of “large and persistent annual U.S. goods trade deficits,” which included a reciprocal tariff policy.

Tariffs on imports from various countries were determined by rates set in Annex I of the executive order, which can be found here. Annex II of the executive order includes a list of goods that are exempt from ad valorem rates, and can be found here.

Some of the country-specific tariffs include the following: European Union (25%), China (34%), India (26%) and Japan (24%).

In response to the 34% tariff on imports from China, China has issued a reciprocal tariff, imposing an 84% tariff on U.S. imports. effective April 10.
