Robert (Bob) J. Mastromatteo, 78, Brewster, Mass., died Aug. 12, 2024.

Mastromatteo was an entrepreneur at heart, starting a lawn company, co-founding a chemical manufacturing company, and eventually establishing Party Cape Cod in 1984 with his wife, becoming the Cape’s first one-stop party retail and rental supplier.

Thoughout the 40 years of growing Party Cape Cod, Bob loved bringing people together. At the job sites, he and his right-hand man, David Patrico, created picture perfect events. Memorably, he built a custom dance floor at his daughter’s wedding, a carnival midway for a themed family clambake, and sat in a dunk tank sporting a gorilla costume during a Bourne Library fundraiser.

Mastromatteo is survived by his wife; daughters and their spouses; Heather (Jonathan) DiPaolo and Sarah (Matthew) Spillane; and grandchildren, Isabella, Mia, Palmer, Lincoln and Hadley.

In Bob’s memory, donations can be made to Dana Farber Cancer Institute and The Brewster Conservation Trust. His family notes that they believe Bob would also invite you to make someone laugh today. After all, among all of these great life achievements, he was also voted 1966 class clown.
