Michael Patrick Fitzwater, 56, Suffolk, Va., died Feb. 8, 2025. Fitzwater — who served as American Rental Association (ARA) Region Two director from 2019-2022 — was founder and president of Special Events Entertainment, Portsmouth, Va.
Prior to his election to serve as a member of the ARA Board of Directors, Fitzwater was part of The ARA Show™ Task Force and held a seat on the ARA of Virginia state chapter board. He also served on the association’s Event Rental Advocacy Work Group from 2021-2023.
In addition, Fitzwater served as president of the Manufacturers and Tent Renters Association (MATRA) from 2014-2015 and was a board member for 12 years.
Fitzwater is survived by his wife, Shelley; children, Grady, Ellie, Graham, Andrew and Mary; and sisters, Carol (Tim) Hudson and Marcia (Bernie) Rull.
