Itema America, the U.S. subsidiary of Colzate (Bergamo) Itema Group, has acquired Greenville, S.C.-based Palmetto Loom Reed. The move expands Itema’s capabilities and signals a long-term commitment to localized service and manufacturing support for North American textile producers.
“This is the best outcome I could imagine,” says Gladys Richardson, Palmetto president. “Itema shares our customer-first values and our approach to treating employees like family. They respect their people—and we do that, too.”
Richardson, who has led Palmetto since 1994, will continue with the company to ensure continuity for employees and customers.
“We want to take care of our customers from top to bottom any way we can — and we’re going to be doing more of that, not less,” says Scott Malcolm, Itema America president.
Palmetto’s 18-person team will continue to operate at its existing Greenville facility.
