Advanced Textiles Association (ATA) Japan, a member group of ATA, held its New Year Forum and Networking Reception Jan. 22 at Shin-Osaka Washington Hotel Plaza in Osaka, Japan. The forum brought together ATA Japan members, guests and partners.

An update on the ATA Annual Meeting was provided, in addition to reports on Advanced Textiles Expo 2025 in Indianapolis, Ind., and a preview of Advanced Textiles Expo 2026 to be held in Orlando, Fla. The forum also featured a Product Showcase highlighting textile innovations positioned for the Japanese market. Three companies were selected from multiple member submissions to present their products and technologies.
Product Showcase presentations

  • Kanbo Pras Corporation presented SPACECOOL, a Japan-originated radiative cooling technology that enables passive cooling without external energy input. The technology addresses heat mitigation, energy efficiency and has already been applied in infrastructure, industrial equipment and public facilities. Kanbo Pras Corporation also introduced REI KEEP, an independent product brand that adapts the SPACECOOL technology into magnet sheet products designed for easier installation and practical use within the specialty fabrics industry.
  • ATA member company Miller Weldmaster presented its industrial fabric welding and automation technologies. The presentation focused on how high-performance textile products can be manufactured efficiently and consistently. Miller Weldmaster also discussed its collaboration with Japanese partner, Sankei Corporation.
  • Rigger Marine Engineering introduced the U.S.-developed SeaSucker vacuum mount technology, which has seen wide adoption in the U.S., particularly in cycling applications. The presentation explored potential new use cases in Japan, inviting ideas for industry-specific and market-specific applications and demonstrating how established U.S. products can be adapted through collaboration with Japanese partners.

The forum was followed by a New Year Networking Reception, where participants enjoyed refreshments.
