William (Bill) Harry Pedersen, 84, died May 16, 2025. Pedersen was the president of Pedersen’s Rentals in Vancouver, B.C., Canada.
Pedersen joined the family-owned business in 1967. Under his leadership, the business expanded to additional locations and focused its inventory on event rental offerings exclusively.
Industry service was a priority for Pedersen, as seen in the variety of leadership roles he held within the American Rental Association (ARA) during his career. He served as ARA Region Ten director (1989-1994), director-at-large on the ARA Board of Directors (1998-1999), chair of the Party Certification Task Force (2003-2005), vice chair and chair of the ARA Foundation Board of Trustees (2006-2008), and member of the Event Rental Shared Interest Group (2006-2007), along with additional committee appointments.
Pedersen also was a leader in the Canadian Rental Association – British Columbia provincial chapter during the late 1990s and early 2000s.
In recognition of his industry service, Pedersen received the ARA Region Ten Person of the Year Award (1988), the Rental E-Web Award: Designer Award (2003), and the ARA Foundation’s 1976 Club Award (2009) and James Keenan Award (2016).
Pedersen is survived by his wife, Albina; daughters, Rhonda Pedersen and Kim Markey; son-in-law, David Markey; and grandchildren, Madison and William Markey.
