The Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) opened its invitations last week for public comments on foreign trade practices and the Section 301 sanctions on China.

The deadline to submit comments on foreign trade practices is March 11. The deadline to submit comments on Section 301 sanctions is March 24.

USTR will hold a public hearing about the proposed actions for Section 301 sanctions March 24, in the main hearing room at the International Trade Commission. Members of the public can submit a request by March 10 to appear at the hearing.

This came a week before it was announced that the proposed tariffs on Canada and Mexico would begin Tuesday, March 4. The announcement includes plans to double the 10% universal tariff charged on imports from China and the possibility of a 25% tariff on European countries.

Members of the public can submit comments and access others’ submitted comments on the USTR website. Find the separate forms for foreign trade practices and Section 301 sanctions to begin the submission process.

For alternatives to online submissions, please contact Catherine Gibson, deputy assistant USTR for Monitoring and Enforcement, at +1 202 395 5725.
